Exploring Assessments
Combined Assessment
Research indicates that approximately 20% of individuals diagnosed with ADHD also meet criteria for ASD, while around 40% of those diagnosed with ASD have co‑occurring ADHD. Many others may not meet full diagnostic thresholds for both conditions, yet still experience significant overlapping traits that impact daily functioning.
By evaluating both conditions together, it is possible to have a more accurate picture of your strengths, challenges, and support needs—ensuring you receive the most effective recommendations for your long‑term well‑being.
These conditions frequently overlap, and assessing for only one can lead to missed diagnoses, less effective treatment plans, and lost opportunities for tailored support.
Involving Family or Supporters
Inclusion of a family member, partner, or friend in your assessment if the patient feels their presence would be helpful. If you would like someone to join you, please inform in advance so the person can be added to your session.
Dermatology referrals
Patients required to be reviewed by a psychiatrist before starting medication
In Ireland, patients prescribed Roaccutane (Isotretinoin) by a dermatologist are required to see a psychiatrist for mental health monitoring. This is due to the potential for side effects and the need for a comprehensive approach to treatment. The psychiatrist can provide support and guidance on managing any mental health issues that may arise during treatment, ensuring the patient's well-being and safety.
